Beyond the Trails: How an Italian Family and Himalaya Sky Travel Brought Clean Water to Kalika Village

For Italian visitors Miss Vedova Raffaela, Miss Vedova Daniela Gallina, and Mr. Renzo Gallina, their journey across the high Himalayan trails was nothing short of extraordinary. From the breathtaking mountain vistas to the incredible dedication and warmth shown by their local guide and porters, every step of the journey exceeded their expectations. However, what began as a traditional mountain holiday quickly evolved into a powerful story of human compassion, unexpected connections, and real-world impact.
After successfully completing their trek around the Mustang region, the family decided to venture off the main tourist trail to explore the local culture more deeply. Their travels brought them to Kalika, a serene and traditional village nestled in the region. While the natural surroundings were breathtaking, spending time in the village revealed the harsh reality of daily life for its residents. The family soon noticed a severe challenge facing the community every day: a critical shortage of clean, accessible drinking water.
In Kalika, the burden of this water crisis fell heavily on the shoulders of local women. Day after day, women and young girls were forced to walk long distances over rugged terrain, away from their homes, simply to retrieve a single bucket of water for drinking, cooking, and sanitation. Seeing these women carry such heavy loads across difficult trails just to fulfill a basic human need deeply moved the Italian family. Touched by the resilience of the community and unwilling to remain passive onlookers, Miss Vedova Raffaela, Miss Vedova Daniela Gallina, and Mr. Renzo Gallina immediately began discussing how they could help bring a permanent water supply system directly to the village.
Turning this compassionate idea into reality required local knowledge and practical expertise. Their experienced trekking guide, Mr. Narayan Kuikel, stepped forward to bridge the gap between vision and execution. Drawing on his understanding of the local geography and community needs, Mr. Narayan Kuikel formulated a viable, step-by-step plan to construct a dedicated water supply infrastructure for Kalika. Inspired by his practical approach and eager to make a lasting difference, the Italian family generously provided the essential financial backing required to fund the project.
