Mera Peak is the highest trekking peak located in the Khumbu region. It is a demanding & fascinating trekking peak at an elevation of 6476m in the Hinku Valley. Mera peak offers the astounding views of 5 world’s highest 8000m peaks – Mt. Everest (8848m), Cho-Oyu (8210m), Lhotse (8516m), Makalu (8463m), Kangchenjunga (8586m) – and many peaks over 6000m, including Nuptse (7855m), Chamlang (7319m), Baruntse (7129m), Ama Dablam (6812m), Kangtega (6779m) etc. Mera Peak is a perfect trekking peak for gaining basic knowledge and skill in Himalayan mountain climbing. The trip also provides an opportunity to cross the Zatrawa la Pass (4600m) from where you can witness the beautiful valleys of Khumbu and Hinku.

Day 01: Arrival in Kathmandu( 1400 m)
It’s a fantastic feeling to fly over the land of Nepal. You can see the beautiful snow-covered mountains and after you land in the Tribhuvan International Airport, you will be greeted by our team at the arrivals and escort you to the hotel.
Day 02: Sightseeing in Kathmandu (B)
After having the early morning breakfast, you will move towards Kathmandu Durbar Square to tour around the Durbar Square. You will delight in the architectural wonder of the places like Hanuman Dhoka, Kumari Ghar, Gaddi Baithak, Taleju Temple etc. Then you make your way towards the Swayambhunath temple from where you can see the mesmerizing view of the whole Kathmandu valley. After having the wonderful view of the Kathmandu valley, you will continue towards Patan city. There you will visit Patan Durbar Square which is known for Krishna Mandir, Golden Temple and Patan Museum. After observing the wonders of Patan you will be back to your hotel for the night.
Day 03: Fly to Lukla (2860m) – 30 mins & trek to Chhuthang (3050 m) – 4/5 hrs (B,L,D)
You will take an early flight to Lukla which is a gateway to all Everest treks. You will meet your trek support team in Lukla and then start your trek to Chhuthang. On the way, you will pass through several Sherpa villages and Buddhist mani walls and prayer wheels.
Day 04: Trek to Thuli Kharka (4300m) via Zatrawa la Pass (4600m) – 5/6 hrs (B,L,D)
You will move ahead on a steep trailed hill. The trail is a tough crossing to reach Zatrawa la Pass, which separates Khumbu Valley and Hinku Valley. The top of Zatrawa la Pass will give you the breathtaking views of Number Himal, Karyolang Peak, Lumding Himal, and Kongdi Ri. Then you will descend down towards Thuli Kharka. The trail passes through some yak pasture lands and the trek ends by reaching Thuli Kharka.
Day 05: Trek to Kothe (3691m) – 6/7 hrs (B,L,D)
The trail is zigzag through forested area that descends to the Hinku Valley, from where you will get to see the south face of Mera Peak. After entering the Hinku Valley, you will see the stunning views of Mera Peak, Kusum Kanguru, Charpati Himal and Thamserku. You will then descend to the Hinku river and then climb to Kothe.
Day 06: Trek to Thaknak (4358m) – 3/4 hrs (B,L,D)
Today, you will walk through the yak pasture land. You will walk along the ridge of Hinku Valley. The trail will pass through Lungsumgba Gompa, which is 200 years old Buddhist shrine. You can also see some rock arts. Then, the trail is easy to Thanknak, a pasture land where people graze their yaks.
Day 07: Trek to Khare (5045m) – 2/3 hrs (B,L,D)
You will have a short and difficult hike today. Today, you will pass through the step moraine trails. You will ascend the Dig glacier and then descend Dig Kharka from where you can see the Charpate Himal. The trail is difficult due to the glacier way, there will be a steep hill climb that will reach Khare.
Day 08: Acclimatization Day (B,L,D)
Today is your acclimatization day before your climb to Mera Peak. Without acclimatization, climbing to the high altitude will increase risk of altitude sickness. Acclimatization will help your body to get some time to adapt the altitudes. You can get some rest or explore Khare village.
Day 09: Trek to Mera High Camp (5780m) – 5/6 hrs (B,L,D)
Today, you will trek to the Mera High Camp. A rocky and steep path will lead you to the Mera Base Camp. The trail will provide you the mesmerizing views of the three summits – Mera South (6065m), Mera North (6476m) and Mera Central (6461m). You have to pass Mera glacier top to reach Mera Base Camp.
Day 10: Climbing Day: Mera Peak (6476m) & back to Khare (5045m) – 11/ 12 hrs (B,L,D)
Early morning around 2 am, you will have some breakfast then ascend to the Summit. The terrain is not difficult, but the low oxygen level and cold air will make your climb challenging. You will cross the Mera Glacier and climb slowly with the help of rope. The summit is the hardest part but your team will guide you. After 8/9 hours of climbing you will reach the Summit. The Summit will give you the astounding views of 5 world’s highest 8000m peaks – Mt. Everest (8848m), Cho-Oyu (8210m), Lhotse (8516m), Makalu (8463m), Kangchenjunga (8586m) – and many peaks over 6000m including Nuptse (7855m), Chamlang (7319m), Baruntse (7129m) Ama Dablam (6812m) Kangtega (6779m) etc. After capturing some precious moments in your camera, you will head down to the High Camp. After reaching High Camp, you will rest and drink some hot soup/tea and then continue down to Khare.
Day 11: Contingency Day (B,L,D)
This is a spare day in case of any kinds of inconvenience. In the higher altitude there will be unfavorable weather condition, so this day is used as a contingency day. If everything goes according to the plan, then you will continue your trek.
Day 12: Trek to Kothe (3691m) – 6/7 hrs (B,L,D)
Today, you will trek down to Kothe by the same route you came. The trail is mostly downhill, so, walking will be easier and quicker.
Day 13: Trek to Thuli Kharka (4300m) – 5/6 (B,L,D)
You will have an uphill trail to the west of Hinku Valley. The trail to Thuli Kharka is covered with forest.
Day 14: Trek to Lukla (2860m) – 5/6 (B,L,D)
This is the last day for your trek. You will say a final goodbye to the magnificent mountains and head towards Lukla and rest at lodge.
Day 15: Fly to Kathmandu – 30 mins (B)
After a long and mesmerizing trek, you will carry the memory of the trip and fly back to Kathmandu. After reaching Kathmandu you will be escorted towards your hotel.
Day 16: Contingency Day (B)
Today is your contingency day in case of flight delay or cancellation. You can use this day as a free day and visit different places of Kathmandu for shopping and sightseeing.
Day 17: Final departure (B)
This is your last day to Nepal and your team will take you to the airport for your flight home.
