Kanchenjunga South Base Camp Trek is an adventurous trek to the home of world’s third highest mountain, Mt Kanchenjunga (8586m). This trek offers you the mesmerizing south face view of Mt Kanchenjunga from South Base Camp and the impressive Yalung Glacier. The trek takes you through the subtropical lowlands, rhododendron and alpine forests, and spectacular glaciers to reach the base camp. During the trek, you can witness an abundant variety of wildlife of Kanchenjunga Conservation Area including the elusive snow leopard, the Asian black bear, and red panda, to name a few. Besides the sensational views, you can also enjoy the rich cultural display of the locals while you make your way to the base of Kanchenjunga.

Day 01: Arrival Kathmandu (1400m)
It’s a fantastic feeling to fly over the land of Nepal. You can see beautiful snow-covered mountains. After you land at Tribhuvan International Airport, you will be greeted by our team at the arrivals and escort you to your hotel.
Day 02: Kathmandu Valley Sightseeing Tour (B)
After having the early morning breakfast, you will move towards Kathmandu Durbar Square to tour around the Durbar Square. You will delight in the architectural wonder of the places like Hanuman Dhoka, KumariGhar, GaddiBaithak, Taleju Temple etc. Then you make your way towards the Swayambhunath temple from where you can see the mesmerizing view of the whole Kathmandu valley. After having the wonderful view of the Kathmandu valley, you will continue towards Patan city. There you will visit Patan Durbar Square which is known for Krishna Mandir, Golden Temple and Patan Museum. After observing the wonders of Patan you will be back to your hotel for the night.
Day 03: Fly to Suketar (2300) – 30 mins and trek to Lali Kharka (1880m) – 6 hrs (B, L, D)
You will take an early flight to Suketar airport at Taplejung, gateway to Kanchenjunga region. Then after, you will begin your trek towards Lali Kharka leaving the left trail which leads to Pathivara temple.
Day 04: Trek to Kande Bhanjyang (2129m) – 6 hrs (B, L, D)
Today you will leave Lali Kharka passing through tiny Limbu settlements of Tembewa and Simbu and enjoying the rice fields and daily lifestyle of the locals. Along the trail to Kande Bhanjyang, you pass through waterfalls and stream which is sure to amaze you.
Day 05: Trek to Pumphe Danda (1858m) – 5/6 hrs (B, L, D)
Early morning you continue on your trail to reach Pumphe Danda. You will walk through the beautiful villages, cross Phunhpung Danda and stay overnight at Pumphe Danda.
Day 06: Trek to Yamphuding (2080) – 5/6 hrs (B, L, D)
Today you have a short trek. You walk along the Kabeli Khola until you reach Mamangkhen, a small village of Limbu tribe. There you can explore the culture and local lifestyle. Then proceed on your journey to Yamphuding, which is also known as Sherpa Gaun.
Day 07: Trek to Tortong (2995m) – 6/7 hrs (B, L, D)
The trail takes you through the fields of corn and barley and beautiful villages while following the Kabeli Khola. Then you will make steep climb through bamboo, pines and rhododendron forest. After passing through damp orchid forest and a waterfall, you reach Tortang.
Day 08: Trek to Tseram (3870m) – 5/6 hrs (B, L, D)
Following the river and passing through rhododendron, pine, chestnut, and juniper forest, you carry on your trek feeling pleased and rejuvenated. Then, continuing ahead you will reach Tseram.
Day 09: Trek to Ramche (4160m) – 5/6 hrs (B, L, D)
Today your trek is full of excitement of getting close to the South Base Camp and the attraction that the trail has to offer. Along the trail you enjoy the magnificent scenario and ascend through the alpine grassland to reach Ramche.
Day 10: Trek to Oktang (4730m) at South Base Camp and return to Cheram – 6 hrs (B, L, D)
Early in the morning you will trek to Oktang to enjoy the magnificent view of the Mt. Kanchenjunga’s southern face. Once you reach there, you climb up some mani walls, flagged cairn on high moraine with splendid views of the Yalung glacier Lake, south face of Kanchenjunga and Jannu mountains from the top of the valley. After spending the blissful time at Oktang, you will trek back to Tseram.
Day 11: Trek to Tortong (2995m) – 6/7 hrs (B, L, D)
Today you will trace back from Tseram to Tortong. Enjoying the beautiful views of the mountains and walking through the peaceful path through the rhododendron forests, you reach Tortong.
Day 12: Trek to Yamphuding (1692m) – 4/5hrs (B, L, D)
You will leave Tortong and take steep descent which will lead you to Yamphuding. It is a big town inhabited by a mixture of Hindu and Buddhist community.
Day 13: Trek to Mamangkhe (1441m) – 5/6 hrs (B, L, D)
Today you will descend through forest to reach Kabeli Khola and then gradually ascend to Tenguwa Khola. Then following the train on the high cliffs above river, you will reach Mamangkhe. Mamangkhe is a beautiful Limbu village.
Day 14: Trek to Keswa (2120m) – 6/7 hrs (B, L, D)
You will leave Mamangkhe and cross several waterfalls and forests to reach Keswa, a village inhabited by Limbu and Gurung ethnic groups.
Day 15: Trek to Suketar (2420m) – 5 hrs (B,L,D)
Today is the concluding day of this memorable trek. You will trek back to Suketar, the beginning and ending destination of the trek, by passing through beautiful villages and fields.
Day 16: Fly back to Kathmandu (1400m) (B)
After a long and mesmerizing trek, you will carry the memory of the trip and fly back to Kathmandu. After reaching Kathmandu you will be escorted towards your hotel.
Day 17: Contingency Day (B)
Today is your contingency day in case of flight delays or cancellation. You can use this day as a free day and visit different places of Kathmandu for shopping and sightseeing.
Day 18: Final Departure (B)
This is your last day in Nepal. You will be taken to the airport for your flight back home.
