Kanchenjunga Circuit Trek is a long and challenging trek that goes through the Base Camp of Mt. Kanchenjunga (8586m), the third highest mountain in the world, via Sele Pass (4450m). The trek offers a magnificent panorama of the Himalayan range, lush green terraces of vegetation, forest of rhododendron, oaks, pine and chestnut, beautiful remote villages in the remote area of eastern Nepal. During the trek you can also experience the traditional culture of the highland settlements of Sherpa and Bhotiya tribes. Day 01: Arrival Kathmandu (1400m)
It’s a fantastic feeling to fly over the land of Nepal. You can see beautiful snow-covered mountains. After you land at Tribhuvan International Airport, you will be greeted by our team at the arrivals and escort you to your hotel.
Day 02: Kathmandu Valley Sightseeing Tour (B)
After having the early morning breakfast, you will move towards Kathmandu Durbar Square to tour around the Durbar Square. You will delight in the architectural wonder of the places like Hanuman Dhoka, KumariGhar, GaddiBaithak, Taleju Temple etc. Then you make your way towards the Swayambhunath temple from where you can see the mesmerizing view of the whole Kathmandu valley. After having the wonderful view of the Kathmandu valley, you will continue towards Patan city. There you will visit Patan Durbar Square which is known for Krishna Mandir, Golden Temple and Patan Museum. After observing the wonders of Patan you will be back to your hotel for the night.
Day 03: Fly to Suketar (2300m) by flight and drive to Mitlung (921m) (B,L,D)
You will take early flight to Suketar airport at Taplejung, a gateway to Kanchenjunga region, Then after you drive to Mitlung, a beautiful small village .
Day 04: Trek to Chhiruwa (1270m) – 5/6hr (B,L,D)
The actual trek begins from today. You will begin you trek from Mitlung, following the river bank, crossing small villages and suspension bridges. You can see the wild bee hives hanging over the cliff, from the trail.
Day 05: Trek to Sekathum (1576m) – 5 hrs (B,L,D)
Leaving Chhiruwa behind, you head to Sekathum. You gradually ascend following the river bank of Tamor and you come across a point where you get to witness the most mesmerizing view of two rivers, Simbua Khola and Gunsa Khola uniting into Tamor Khola. Then you continue on the beautiful trail to reach Sekathum.
Day 06: Trek to Amjilasa (2308m) – 6 hrs (B,L,D)
Today you will trek slowly mounting and following Gunsa river and cross the suspension bridge, pass the beautiful waterfall to reach the first Sherpa village on this trek, Amjilasa. It is a small village which is used when the yaks and sheep are in the pastures.
Day 07: Trek to Gyabla (2730m) – 5/6 hrs (B,L,D)
The trail takes you through the dense forest of bamboo and rhododendron where you walk in peace while listening to the beautiful chirping of the birds and the sound of river which closely accompany you on this trail. The end destination for today is Gyabla.
Day 08: Trek to Gunsa (3595m) – 5/6 hrs (B,L,D)
After having breakfast, you continue on the trail leading you towards Gunsa. Following the trail you descend, cross the river and move up the hill to reach Phale, a Tibetan refugee settlement. Then you walk through the juniper forest which is followed by Gunsa village.
Day 09: Rest Day at Gunsa (B,L,D)
As you have already reached to higher altitude, today is a rest day to acclimatize yourself to prevent the altitude sickness. You can explore the village and the monastery or you can simply relax at your hotel.
Day 10: Trek to Kambachen (4050m) – 5/6 hrs (B,L,D)
After a rest day at Gunsa, you ascend to Kambachena through the beautiful pine and rhododendron forest, pastures with abundance of wildflower. You also come across Gunsa river and beautiful waterfall along with the beautiful sight of Mt. Jannu and you finally arrive at Kambachen.
Day 11: Kambachen Rest Day (B,L,D)
Today is the rest day at Kambachen to acclimatize your body at the high altitude. You can enjoy the day by climbing the ridge to see the mesmerizing view of Kanchenjunga or watch yak pastures.
Day 12: Trek to Lhonak (4780m) – 7 hrs (B,L,D)
Today you trek towards Lhonak via Ramtang village. The trek is not too strenuous, you can enjoy the breathtaking views of the valley and mountain peak. After the continuous trek along the trail, you reach Lhonak.
Day 13: Lhonak-Pangpema-Lhonak (5143m) – 6/7 hrs (B,L,D)
Following the Kanchenjunga glacier, you will lead to Pangpema, Kanchenjunga North Base Camp. You can enjoy the spectacular views of the Mt. Jannu, north face of Mt. Kanchenjunga and Mt. Chang. Then you will trace back to Lhonak.
Day 14: Trek to Gunsa (3595m) – 7hrs (B,L,D)
After having breakfast you will trek back to Gunsa following the same trail as before but only getting further away from the huge mountains.
Day 15: Trek to Sele la Pass camp (4200m) – 5/6 hrs (B, L, D)
Following the trail you pass through villages and the hydroelectricity plant. Making an ascent into the dense forest of rhododendron and juniper and continuing on the trail, you reach on top of a ridge. Going along the side of the ridge, you walk until you reach Sele le pass.
Day 16: Trek to Cheram (3870m) – 3/4 hrs (B, L, D)
Today, you begin your trek with a climb up towards a ridge from where we can get magnificent view of the Mt. Makalu and Jannu. Then you cross Mirgin la pass and Sinelapche la and descend to reach Cheram.
Day 17: Trek to Tortong (2998m) – 6 hrs (B, L, D)
Descending down the valley passing through the forest areas, you continue trekking on the trail towards Tortong leaving Cheram. Tortong is situated in the bank of Simbuwa River, an ideal place for overnight stay for adventure- seeking trekkers.
Day 18: Trek to Yamphudin (1692m) – 5/6 hrs (B, L, D)
Leaving Tortong you will cross the bridge over Simbuwa Khola and then follow the trail along the bank of the river. Then you make an ascent towards Lasiya Bhanjyang and descend down to river. After crossing the river you reach beautiful Sherpa village of Yamphudin.
Day 19: Trek to Mamangkhe, (1786m) – 5/6 hrs (B, L, D)
Today, you will descend to west side of Kabeli Khola while trekking through less dense forest. Then you will continue to ascend across Kabeli Khola to reach the village of Mamangkhe. The village is settled by Limbu tribe.
Day 20: Terk to khesewa (2120m) – 5/6 hrs (B, L, D)
Today leaving Mamangkhe, you ascend through rice terraced fields. Then you will cross a suspension bridge and head towards the village of Phonpe. Now, it is an easy downhill trek through several waterfalls and small streams all the way to Khesewa village.
Day 21: Trek to Lalikharka, (1880m) – 5/6 hrs (B, L, D)
From Khesewa, you will follow the trail walking up and down the hill and passing through beautiful villages with magnificent views of Kanchenjunga and Kyabru. Then continuing on the trail you climb through dense forest filled with rhododendron trees to reach Lali Kharka.
Day 22: Trek to Suketar, (2300m) – 4/5 hrs (B, L, D)
Today is the concluding of this memorable trek. Leaving Lali Kharka, you trek through pastures and wonderful settlements. After several ups and down, you will reach Suketar.
Day 23: Fly back Kathmandu (1400) (B)
After a long and mesmerizing trek, you will carry the memory of the trip and fly back to Kathmandu. After reaching Kathmandu you will be escorted towards your hotel.
Day 24: Contingency Day (B)
Today is your contingency day in case of flight delays or cancellation. You can use this day as a free day and visit different places of Kathmandu for shopping and sightseeing.
Day 25: Final Departure (B)
This is your last day in Nepal. You will be taken to the airport for your flight back home.
