Jumla Rara Trek is an adventurous trekking through the off beaten trail in the western part of Nepal. It will take you through the natural and cultural grandeur of Rara National Park, the home of Rara lake, Nepal’s largest lake. You will start your trek from Jumla and then slowly ascend towards Rara Lake savoring the amazing display of traditional villages along with various species of flora & fauna. Rara Lake, situated at an altitude of 2990m, is very popular for its magnificent scenic beauty with the backdrop of conifers and mountain panorama. After exploring the magical beauty of Rara, you will retrace your journey making a loop that ends once again at Jumla.

Day 01: Arrival Kathmandu (1350m)
It’s a fantastic feeling to fly over the land of Nepal. You can see beautiful snow-covered mountains. After you land at Tribhuvan International Airport, you will be greeted by our team at the arrivals and escort you to your hotel.
Day 02: Kathmandu Valley Sightseeing Tour (B)
After having the early morning breakfast, you will move towards Kathmandu Durbar Square to tour around the Durbar Square. You will delight in the architectural wonder of the places like Hanuman Dhoka, Kumari Ghar, Gaddi Baithak, Taleju Temple etc. Then you make your way towards the Swayambhunath temple from where you can see the mesmerizing view of the whole Kathmandu valley. After having the wonderful view of the Kathmandu valley, you will continue towards Patan city. There you will visit Patan Durbar Square which is known for Krishna Mandir, Golden Temple and Patan Museum. After observing the wonders of Patan you will be back to your hotel for the night.
Day 03: Fly to Nepalgunj (150m)– 1hr (B,L,D)
You will fly to Nepalgunj, a big town in the lowland of Nepal. After reaching Nepalgunj, you will be escorted to hotel. Rest of the day you explore the local market and surrounding.
Day 04: Fly to Jumla (2370m) – 40 mins (B,L,D)
After your breakfast, you will take an early morning flight to Jumla. Jumla airport is Nepal’s best remote airstrip which is 900m long. Jumla is the gateway to the most of the trekking in the region. After reaching Jumla you will be escorted to hotel/lodge. Later, you can explore the Jumla Bazaar and the surrounding area.
Day 05: Trek to Patmara (2910m) – 5/7 hrs (B,L,D)
Today is your first day of trek and you will follow the north bank of Tilakhola, the trail to Rara lake. Then, you will keep passing through the fields and pine forests. After that the trail starts to ascend up to Padmara valley. Continuing through the trail that becomes narrower and ascending through the deep forest of pines, spruces and firs, you will arrive to Patmara.
Day 06: Trek to Chautha (2770m) – 6 hrs (B,L,D)
Now you will start to descend as you leave Patmara. You will pass through the forest of firs, birches, walnuts and bamboo down to Sinja Khola. You follow the river downstream Nyawre. Then after, you will climb through the ridge into a side valley followed by a steep climb which will take you to a big valley. From this point, you will start to descend down till you reach Chautha.
Day 07: Trek to Jhyari (2635m) – 5/6 hrs (B,L,D)
Today you will follow the rocky trail and the trail becomes narrower. Further, you will climb to Bhulbule where you will show your entry permit. Then you will move forward gently to chhortens, cairns and prayer flags on the top of Ghurchi Lagna. From there you will get the views of Mugu Karnali river and the stunning Tibet peaks. Then you descend down a rough trail through spruce forests and follow the direct trail to Rara Lake and descend to Jhyari.
Day 08: Trek to Rara Lake (3040m) – 3/4 hrs (B,L,D)
Leaving Jhyari, you will ascend to Thakuri village and continue climbing through cedar forest to get the top great view of Rara Lake. Then you will descend to the northside of the lake where you will spend your night.
Day 09: Exploration Day (B,L,D)
Today is a free day. You can explore the area and climb to the tower from where you get the finest view of Rara lake. The vibe is quite refreshing and mind-blowing. You will spend your whole time in the shoreline of the Lake.
Day 10: Trek to Gorusinha (3190m) – 5/7 hrs (B,L,D)
After exploring Rara Lake, you will follow the western trail to Khatyar Khola. Then you descend to the river and ascend to the small trail of pine, spruce and rhododendron forests. After, that you will move towards the small settlement of Gorusinha village.
Day 11: Trek to Sinja (2440m) – 5/6 hrs (B,L,D)
You will keep moving downwards to Ghatta valley and continue to Sinja valley following Sinja Khola. Sinja was the capital of the Malla Dynasty that ruled the western Nepal in past.
Day 12: Trek to Jaljala Chaur (3531m) – 5/6 hrs (B,L,D)
Leaving Sinja behind, you will cross Sinja Khola and then pass a few small villages to reach Jaljala Chaur. En-route, you will pass through birch and oak forest & fields of barley and corn.
Day 13: Trek to Jumla (2370m) – 5/6 hrs (B,L,D)
Today is your last day of trek. You will trek towards Jumla through forest and meadows. After reaching Jumla, you will take rest.
Day 14: Fly to Nepalgunj (150m) – 40 mins & Fly to Kathmandu (1400m) – 1 hr (B)
After a long and mesmerizing trek, you will carry the memory of the trip and fly back to Nepalgunj and then catch another flight to Kathmandu. After reaching Kathmandu you will be escorted towards hotel.
Day 15: Free Day (B)
Today is your contingency day in case of flight delays or cancellation. You can use this day as a free day and visit different places of Kathmandu for shopping and sightseeing.
Day 16: Final Departure (B)
This is your last day in Nepal and your team will take you to the airport for your flight back home.
