Dhaulagiri Circuit Trek via French Pass is a demanding trek. It is a classic adventure trip starting from the mid hill villages to the high Himalayas. The trek will give you a mesmerizing view of Dhaulagiri I (8,167m), Dhaulagiri II (7,751m), Dhaulagiri III (7,715m), Dhaulagiri V (7,618m), Tukuche Peak (6,920m) and Niligiri peaks. The trail passes through the alpine pasture, unpopulated valleys, wind-swept passes, forest of pine & oaks, glacier, gorge and moraine.
You will start your trek from Darbang and making a loop you will end it at Jomsom. During the trek you can also witness the unique culture of Thakali people. This trek is ideal for those looking for an adventurous trekking in off the beaten trail of the Himalayas.

Day 01: Arrival Kathmandu (1400m)
It’s a fantastic feeling to fly over the land of Nepal. You can see beautiful snow-covered mountains. After you land at Tribhuvan International Airport, you will be greeted by our team at the arrivals and escort you to your hotel.
Day 02: Kathmandu Valley Sightseeing Tour (B)
After having the early morning breakfast, you will move towards Kathmandu Durbar Square to tour around the Durbar Square. You will delight in the architectural wonder of the places like Hanuman Dhoka, Kumari Ghar, Gaddi Baithak, Taleju Temple etc. Then you make your way towards the Swayambhunath temple from where you can see the mesmerizing view of the whole Kathmandu valley. After having the wonderful view of the Kathmandu valley, you will continue towards Patan city. There you will visit Patan Durbar Square which is known for Krishna Mandir, Golden Temple and Patan Museum. After observing the wonders of Patan you will be back to your hotel for the night.
Day 03: Fly to Pokhara (822m) – 30 mins & Drive to Darbang (1110m) – 6/7 hrs (B,L,D)
You will have early morning flight to Pokhara, and during that flight you will see the majestic mountains like Annapurna and Machhapuchhre. After reaching Pokhara you will drive to Darbang. During the drive you can witness the lush hills and snow-capped mountain views. You will drive by passing Beni and Myagdi Khola to reach Darbang.
Day 04: Trek to Sibang (1780m) – 6/7 hrs (B,L,D)
Today is your first day of trek and you will trek for 6/7 hrs to reach Sibang. You will ascend to the top of Dharapani from where you will get the stunning view of Gurja Himal, Hiunchuli and Dhaulagiri Massif. Then you will continue your path above the river and reach Sibang.
Day 05: Trek to Bagar (2080m) – 7/8 hrs (B,L,D)
You will descend to Gatti Khola and then climb to Muri village where two river Myagdi and Dhara meet. Then, you will cross the bridge over Dhola Khola and descend through the terraced fields to reach Naura. After reaching Naura, you will walk alongside bank river of Myagdi Khola to reach Bagar.
Day 06: Trek to Dobhan (2520m) – 5/6 hrs (B,L,D)
Then, you will descend to the forest of Jyardan and climb to Lipshe. The trail enters the forest before you reach Dobhan. Today trail is full of ups and downs.
Day 07: Trek to Italian Base Camp (3660m) – 7/8 hrs (B,L,D)
Leaving Dobhan, you will further walk to Italian Base Camp. You will walk through the forest trail surrounded by oaks, bamboo and pines trees. As you move upward you will be surrounded by mountains. You will get mesmerizing views of Tukuche peak, Dhaulagiri Range from the Italian Base Camp.
Day 08: Exploration Day (B,L,D)
Today you will rest and explore. You can hike and explore the Italian Base Camp. You can witness the spectacular views of mountains in your surrounding.
Day 09: Trek to Japanese Base Camp (3890m) – 4/5 hrs (B,L,D)
Today you will have a rocky trail. You will walk steep slope and cross the glacial moraines to reach Japanese Base Camp. From here, you will witness the west side of Dhaulagiri I and Tsaurabong Peak.
Day 10: Trek to Dhaulagiri Base Camp (4748m) – 4/5 hrs (B,L,D)
It will be the challenging day because you have to walk on the glacier and sometime on the lateral moraine. You have to take every steep carefully to make up to Dhaulagiri Base Camp. After reaching Dhaulagiri Base Camp you will see all the mountains of Dhaulagiri range and the exciting icefall descending from Tukuche peak and Dhaulagiri.
Day 11: Exploration Day (B,L,D)
After a long walk to the high altitude, you will rest in Dhaulagiri Base Camp for a day. You can explore Base Camp or hike to see the more mesmerizing mountains views.
Day 12: Trek to Hidden Valley (5140m) via French Pass (5360m) – 6/7 hrs (B,L,D)
You will take a trail to the north side of Chhondarban Glacier, then climb the hillside above the Glacier. You will follow zig-zag trail to cross the moraines to reach French Pass. In French Pass you will witness 360-degree views of mountains in surrounding. Then, you will slowly move downward to reach Hidden Valley.
Day 13: Rest Day (B,L,D)
This will be your free day or rest day. On this day you can explore the Hidden Valley.
Day 14: Trek to Yak Kharka(4200m) via Dhampus Pass (5244m)– 5/6 hrs (B,L,D)
Leaving behind the Hidden Valley, you will head towards Dhampus Pass from where you can see the beautiful views of Dhaulagiri massif and Annapurna massif. Then, you will descend to the Yak Kharka.
Day 15: Trek to Jomsom via Marpha (2720m) – 4/5 hrs (B,L,D)
Then, you will descend down to Jomsom via Marpha. Marpha is the city of apples. You can visit apple farm and taste apple wine, fresh apple & apple sukuti in Marpha. Then you will follow the Kali Gandaki River to reach windy town of Mustang region Jomson.
Day 16: Fly to Pokhara (822m) – 25 mins (B,L,D)
You will have early morning flight to Pokhara. After 12 pm, there won’t to any flight because of the wind. While flying you can enjoy the view of mountains. Then after reaching Pokhara, you will do sightseeing and visit famous places of Pokhara.
Day 17: Fly to Kathmandu (1400m) – 45 mins (B,L,D)
After exploring Pokhara you will fly back to Kathmandu. It will be about 30 mins flight and during that flight you will see the majestic mountains.
Day 18: Contingency Day (B,L,D)
Today is your contingency day in case of Pokhara flight delays or cancelations. You can use this day as a free day and visit different places of Kathmandu for shopping and sightseeing.
Day 19 : Final Departure (B,L,D)
This is your last day in Nepal and your team will take you to the airport for your flight back home.
